Gabriel da Silva Vidal Cid is a historian, sociologist, Master in Urban and Regional Planning (2009) and PhD in Sociology from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, with his thesis The Memory as Project: “A Memória como Projeto: tensões e limites da patrimonialização da capoeira” (Tension and limits of the Patrimonialization of Capoeira, 2016). His research interests centre on capoeira, collective memory, cultural policies and cultural heritage.
He is a lecturer, researcher and consultant, in the area of sociology and cultural history studies. He co-ordinates Art, Culture and Power research group, at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ).
