Master and PhD Luiz Renato Vieira

Bachelor of Social Sciences, specialist in public policy and governance, MA in Sociology, PhD in the Sociology of Culture, post-doctorate in Comparative History. Graduated by Mestre Zulu (Brasília), Mestre Renato is one of the leading mestres of the Beribazu Group,  where he has been teaching capoeira since 1982, and more recently at the Faculty of Physical Education, University of Brasilia (UnB). He is the author of books and articles on capoeira and popular culture which have been translated into several languages. Mestre Renato is legislative consultant of the Federal Senate since 2002, working in the areas of culture, sport, minorities and speech writing as well as a consultant and collaborator of public institutions involved in the formulation of public policies for capoeira, such as the Ministry of Culture, Palmares Cultural Foundation and IPHAN (Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage).
